Educational Video - Video Project

Your assignment is to make a short educational video that will illustrate a basic concept. Think something like Sesame Street!

You must be the onscreen host for this project, and you must have voiceover narration for the project ("Hi, I'm Dave, and we will show you the difference between in and out.") You will introduce the topic and tell about it, and each time a concept is mentioned, you must also give reinforcement by placing a title on top of the video clip.

Your project must have at least 14 video clips which are at least 3 seconds long, except for something like the alphabet, which must have all letters of the alphabet.

At least one of your clips must have a special effect on it, such as speeding up or slowing down or adding a filter

You may select from the topics below, or suggest one of your own:

Near & Far

Tall & Short

Under & Over

Happy & Sad

Morning, Afternoon, Night

Length - One Inch, One Foot, Ten Feet, etc.

Colors - you must use at least 8 colors repeated 2 or more times (at least one-half of the objects must normally be that color, like a red apple, orange orange, purple grape, yellow banana, etc.)

Sizes - Big & Medium & Small - with at least 4 examples of each size

Locations - Ahead, Behind, Beside, Under, Over

Inside & Outside (this block is outside the box, this block is inside the box, etc.)(I am going inside the classroom. I am going outside to play.)

Counting - Illustrate numbers counting to 20. Use objects like pennies or crayons. This works well with time lapse or speed up

Geometric Objects - Line, Square, Rectangle, Circle, Ellipse, Trapezoid, Sphere, Cylinder, Cone - Demonstrate objects in nature, or buildings, for example

Simple Machines - Lever, Inclined Plane, Wheel and Axle, Screw, Wedge, Pulley

Liquid measurement - cup, gallon, liter, teaspoon, drop

Groups of Things - Things that swim - Things that run - Things made of wood - Noises animals make

Area - using sports fields - the basketball court is xx feet by xx feet with a total area of yy - a baseball field is xx feet by xx feet for a total area of yy square feet - do this for several more fields or playing areas - tennis courts, playground, volleyball, football, soccer

Diameters of various sports equipment - soccer ball, volleyball, basketball, baseball, shot put, discus

Percentages - compare the numbers of something - out of M&M's in a bag - there are xx out of xx candies, for a percentage of yy

Patterns - which pattern does not match (such as a series of 2 green buttons, 2 red buttons and 2 green buttons)

:

Things you will need in your project:

Title Page - display the concept you will be teaching for at least 5 seconds

Introduction - introduce yourself on camera (or have someone else as host), and say what concept you will be teaching. Place another title on top of the host when they mention the topic

Basic Idea - explain the fundamental ideas of your concept - what is the definition of near & far, or tall & short?

Comparison shots - you must have at least 14 shots which illustrate your concept (For example: This tree is tall; This bush is short; This tree is very tall; This plant is very short)

Subtitles - each time you mention the concept, you must also pop up a subtitle with name (near! far!)

Voiceover - at least one of the clips must have a voiceover describing what you are showing - you film the clip, and then record another clip of you describing that - you will take only the audio from that and place it on the previous clip

Background Music - instrumental music only - add sound effects here and there if you would like

Credits - Fade out at the end and have a 6-second title over black saying (color text as large as possible in a display font):
