Your Name _______________________________

Nature Show - Video Project

You are now a producer on the Discovery Channel, and it is your job to produce a nature documentary. Fortunately you only need to produce a 30-second documentary, not a 30-minute version.

You must select a good nature topic for your video, hopefully something you are familiar with. The topic could be some type of animal (you can use a pet if you have one), fish, plant, flower, tree. Use something that you know a lot about, or do a little research so that you can give us a little trivia about your topic. If you are really stumped, ask someone like Mr. Cox about plants or trees in the area that you could videotape and explain about.

Shots - Your project must use all the camera shots listed below. Take as many closeup shots as possible.

1

Long Shot (probably used at the start of your project while you're introducing the topic)

Medium Shot

Closeup

Extreme Closeup

2

Tracking Shot - You must have one shot that tracks around your subject. Just slowly circle your camera around the subject. You may hand hold the camera if necessary, but do it slowly and carefully.

Voiceover

3

You must record a voiceover telling us something about your subject. The voiceover doesn't have to run the whole time, but you must have at least three bits of information or trivia that you provide in your documentary.

Music

3

Find some suitable documentary music - something soothing in the background that will not be so noticeable.

Titles & Graphics

2

You must have a title graphic at the start, and then subtitles giving information about your subject. Use a lot of subtitles if you don't want to do voiceovers throughout the whole project.

3

You must have at least three subtitles (more is better) for your project which identify characteristics of your subject

Credits

2

Give yourself credit at the end of the project
